2018 Julie's Horses

I'm up for just about anything. After breakfast one morning I went over to Julie's house to shoot her FIVE horses. When I pulled up there was a mobile groomer parked out front and I thought to myself, "Holy Smokes! I'd better not screw this up! How much does it cost to groom five horses?!" Turns out the groomer was there for the dogs. Ha. She cut the horses loose in the pen, riled them up a little, and I snapped away. My daughter rode therapy horses for years and I felt pretty comfortable at first, but I admit was uneasy with these huge guys running around me. On one pass the big guy was headed for me but pulled up fast, I think he was just letting me know he could trample me if he wanted! So the goal was to create some art for the house featuring her own horses. I took her favorites and experimented a bit, even created a mock up of one of those cheesy old west type oil paintings! Eventually she decided on three and I reworked them in a sepia grunge style. I'm looking forward to seeing the final on wall, I believe it will be a four by five foot metallic print.
